Obama National Bank

Thanks to the government interfering with the financial marketplace, American taxpayers are on the hook for bailing out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.  Lending institutions were pressured by our government, under threat of facing discrimination charges, to lend money to those who could not possibly pay it back.  Millions of bad loans were written, the economy soured and now, all sorts of businesses are lining up for a handout.  What now?

Just how much is this seemingly endless bailout going to cost American taxpayers?  Some say it could be in the trillions.  And who is going to have the responsibility of overseeing the appropriation of all that cash?  The second question is even more important than the first, especially if Barack Obama becomes the next president.

A trillion dollars is one huge pile of loot.  Did I just say loot?  Sorry, but get used to the idea.  Obama has shown an incredible propensity for associating with people who have a track record of cooking the books and profiting handsomely for their efforts.  Two of these guys are Jim Johnson and Franklin Raines.

A report by the Office of Housing Enterprise Oversight from September, 2004 found that  Fannie Mae had improperly deferred $200 million in expenses.  According to Wikipedia, "This enabled top executives, including Johnson and his successor Franklin Raines to receive substantial bonuses in  1998."  Johnson's take - $21 million.  Raines pulled in $20 million in 2003 alone.

Johnson was named to Obama's VP search committee. He is a committed supporter of Obama having donated the maximum allowable to his campaign.  He reportedly stepped down when the investigation into his involvement the financial crisis became public.

Raines was reported to have had some conversations with the Obama campaign regarding "general housing, economy issues."  Since this information came to light, both Raines and the Obama campaign have insisted that Raines has had no part in advising the candidate.  No surprise there, but I'm not buying it.

Given their extensive experience in shady bookkeeping and skimming more than a little cream off the top, Raines and Johnsin are uniquely qualified to oversee the dispensation of a trillion buck bailout.  Imagine how much money could just disappear from a pile that high.  True, there's no guarantee these two would make the short list, but can we afford totake the chance?  Not wise.  Not wise at all.

There are other things that we should keep in mind as well.  There are no requirements for the banks to loan the money out.  In fact, it appears they can do just about anything they want to with it.  They can give executives bonuses, acquire other banks, heck, they could possibly even invest in Obama futures. (political contributions).  Imagine, our taxes going to the Obama coffers.

And what if banks do lend the money out as was intended?  Will an Obama administration require them to adopt more sensible lending practices?  Will low income people be shut out of the American dream by having to prove credit worthyness?  Don't bet on it.  The same factors that got us into this mess will still be in play going forward and that will lead to more problems requiring more government solutions, etc, etc.  You get the picture.  Once the feds get their sticky little fingers into the pie, it will be nearly impossible to get them out.

The financial crisis has become a perfect excuse to call for more government - the last thing our Founding Fathers intended.  No doubt they would be grieved to see their republic on its death bed as socialists herald in the birth of a nationalized banking system.

Playing Dirty a Character Issue

The Democratic Presidential Candidate speaks of lofty goals with a silver tongue.  The candidate comes across as a noble statesman embracing only the highest standards of ethical conduct.  The truth may be somewhat different if we consider what type of characters are attracted to him, and why.  We all know politics is a dirty game, but this crowd has redefined the term.

ACORN is under investigation for voter fraud in thirteen states.  Acorn activists have knowingly and deliberately engaged in submitting names and addresses for phony "voters".  It's important to note that this isn't simply a matter of stuffing ballot boxes.  This is personal.  Every time a bogus vote is cast for one candidate, it cancels that of someone who favors the other candidate.  These actions are effectively stealing the voices of  who knows how many Americans.  Maybe you're one of them.

There have been a number of filthy attacks on Republican Sarah Palin that the media has chosen to ignore.  Some of the stuff going on is as vulgar as you can imagine.  Michelle Malkin describes some of it in her latest blog.  Obama protesters have shown up at rallies wearnig t-shirts with: "Sarah Palin is a (insert c-word here)."  According to Malkin, one man showed up at a rally holding a toy gun to the head of a cardboard image of Palin.  There have been other reports of hecklers in the crowd yelling: "Stone her!"

Madonna's hatred for Palin has been revealed in such a filthy manner at concerts lately, its led to some speculation that she can rotate her head three hundred and sixty degrees and vomit a fowl green substance while singing "Like a Virgin".

There have been a number of attacks of vandalism on republican headquarters and a McCain rally in New York was met with vulgar resistance from Obama supporters displaying their IQ with a single digit salute.

None of this is newsworthy to the mainstream media.  Why not?  If republicans behaved the same way, you can bet it would make the front page of the New York Times and hundreds of articles would be published about those hate filled conservatives.  We all know the media is in the tank for Obama and they overlook the antics of those who hate Palin and McCain and anything decent.

The left hates anyone with a good moral compas who has the ability to descern right from wrong.  Any candidate who embodies the essence of decency is a threat to their lifestyle.  This is about the battle between good and evil and the central issue on the side of evil is abortion.  By being a pro-life candidate, Sarah Palin has drawn the fateful lightning of the godless.

There are reports of the Obama campaign receiving illegal contributions from foreign sources.  Evidence of cash from donors from Middle Eastern countries was found in audits by the FEC.  Now, why would they be interested in an Obama presidency?

Rush Limbaugh reported on 10/15/08 a story about a Kansas City couple who discovered a suspicious charge on their credit card.  They called the card company and learned their account had been charged a $2300 donation to the Obama campaign.  The problem is, this McCain couple never made the donation and the card company had no answers as to how the charge got there in the first place.  The charge was eventually removed, but the rest of us might want to check our own statements.

Obama has a lengthy track record of associating with some unsavory characters like William Ayers and felons like Tony Rezco.  He also sought the advice of Franklin Raines and Jim Johnson, two of the people who profited millions while overseeing the fraudulent bookkeeping practices going on at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

A group of young Dutch socialists recently arrived here to join the campaign for Obama.  Why would they be interested in an Obama presidency?

Circumstantial evidence is considered legitimate reason to convict if a substantial amount of it points to the same conclusion.  We can debate infinitely whether the democratic presidential candidate is fit for duty, but there is a question that we should all consider.  There are far too many unsavory characters lining up in support of Barack Obama.  Laura Ingraham wants to know: "What is it about Barack Obama that these people are attracted to?"

There's an old saying of English origin dating to the 16th century that may still be worth considering in this modern era of lying, cheating and stealing.   "Birds of a feather flock together."

Star of the DNC?

Those who think Barak Obama was the star of the Democratic National Convention could be mistaken.  The real star of the convenion might just be, well - a real star.

Some images stir the imagination more than others.  With thirty years in the sign/graphic design industry, I've become acutely aware that images convey a thought or emotion or promote a message of one kind or another.  And sometimes I can't help but wonder what the designers were thinking when they put together graphic logos to identify a product they're peddling.  Take for instance, the banners that adorned the Pepsi Center for the Democratic National Convention.

The banners draping the outside of the Pepsi Center featured a bright red star suspended over a multi-hued background image that appears to represent the Rockies.  Putting aside the Rocky Mountain High for a moment, we're left wondering if this image accurately defines the heart and soul of today's democratic party.

What comes to mind when you see a red star?  For those of us growing up in the Cold War Era, the red star is a symbol of Marxism and a threat to democracy.  The flag of the USSR displays a red star above the hammer and sickle.  Russian military vehicles of every description were identified by a big red star proudly on display even as they snuffed out millions of innocent lives.

Indeed, there are lterally hundreds of tragic cases of brutality that have been the result of people surrendering their liberty to those who promise to right every wrong.  History proves that yeilding to the nanny state ultimately leads to tyranny.

Wikipedia describes the red star as "a symbol of communism as well as broader socialism in general."  To paraphrase, it goes on to say: "The [red] star has become a symbol representing socialism of all varieties."  Would that be the DNC variety as well?

For some insight into what the red star means to millions of citizens of the world, go to: www.howdesign.com/article/symbolstory/
The author, Nikita Prokhorov, knows the significance of the symbol that has been associated with some of the most atrocious crimes against humanity in all of history.

Dutch brewer, Heineken currently uses a red star as part of its logo.  A Hungarian investors group actually sued Heineken in an effort to get the company to stop using the symbol of communism in this former Soviet Bloc country.  Not surprisingly, Heineken claims there's no connection to the red star of communism and its logo, but that means little to the Hungarians who suffered under the iron fisted Stalinists.  The red star, to them, is what the swastika is to Jews.

Now the democrats have adopted the red star symbol for reasons that aren't clear to most main stream Americans, but it is a cause for concern to some of us.  Either they knew what they were doing or they didn't.  Which one was it?  Does it matter?  You bet it does.  If the democratic party leadership knew what they were doing, that means they have endorsed the symbol of opression and the ideology of Karl Marx has been adopted as a core principle driving today's democratic agenda.

We may have just witnessed the overt rebranding of the democratic party.  What's more, images of the Pepsi Center adorned with big red stars sent a not so subtle message to socialists around the world that they have a like minded sympathizer to root for and support in November.  No doubt the Democratic National Committee is anticipating a huge cash windfall as all those Chicago dishwashers, gardeners and domestic help of every description max out their $28,500 political contributions.  How do they do it in these tough economic times?

Congress At War With America Part Two

For some time, economists have been predicting the price of oil would drop simply in response to serious high level government discussion that the US might begin offshore drilling.  The idea was that any dialogue favorable to increasing domestic supply could signal speculators that the party may soon be over.  Last week, President Bush lifted the ban on drilling put in place by his father and challenged congress to lift its own version of the ban.  Predictably, congressional leaders scoffed at the idea saying: "We can't drill our way out of this problem."

Surprise! A week later, oil prices have dropped and the price of regular at the pump has come down as much as ten to fifteen cents per gallon.  Maybe speculating about drilling is having some effect, or maybe it's just a coincidence.  Either way, it is a little early to predict the outcome based strictly on dialogue suggesting we might be interested in increased energy independence.  While talking about it gives us a glimpse of how the market responds to rhetoric, real and lasting price reductions can only be achieved through increasing supply.

Current majority leaders in congress could never agree to considering offshore oil exploration. To do so would be like admitting they were wrong to oppose it in the first place.  And imagine the fallout if that straegy proved to be effective in reducing oil prices.  Democrats aren't about to let that happen.  That course of action isn't available to those beholden to environmental extremists and billionaire globalist George Sorros.  So, what is their plan?  It's a shell game, no pun intended.

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi recently led congress in forcing Bush to reduce shipments to the Strategic Petroleum Reserve by 70,000 barrels a day, presumably to help ease our pain at the pump.  If they think seventy thousand barrels will make a difference, why wouldn't they think a million would be better?  They do, but haven't a clue where to get it from.

In an act of utter stupidity, congressional democrats offered another proposal calling for the release of oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserves.  Reid's and Pelosi's so called solution, though flawed, unwittingly revealed that they do understand the laws of supply and demand and acknowlege that we indeed are experiencing the effects of an energy shortage.  In spite of this, they will thumb their collective noses at any real remedial measures.  Their proposal is bad for America and if we listen to them, we'll lose our safety net and end up more vulnerable than ever to international extortion or worse.

First, the SPR is intended to keep America up and running in the event that our oil supply is abruptly cut off.  This is a matter of national security.  It's not intended to give temporary comfort to consumers.  By using that supply, we weaken our ability to survive a true crisis, should one occur.  Second, it isn't cheap.  It's hard to find any logic in energy policy that calls for consuming sixty dollar a barrel oil that we'll need to replace with oil that could cost more than twice as much.  We'll pay one way or another.  By the way, $60 bucks was the price of a barrel of oil when democrats took control of congress in 2006 and promised to do something about high gas prices.  Well, they've done something alright, they've made it worse.

Instead of increasing our domestic oil supply, Reid now wants the legislature to consider a bill limiting oil speculation.  The strategy, proposed by the democrats, is only the latest example of their endless quest for power and control over everything and speaks volumes of the left's love for the socialist idiology and their contempt for the free market.

Reid, Pelosi and their minions hope to drive down the price of oil by crushing the entrepeneurial spirit that is at the heart of this great nation.  Their strategy, if successful in the short term, will undoubtedly make room for a ten cent gas tax, which may be what they've been looking for all along.  Having failed to muster support for a windfall profits tax on big oil, they turn to the only other suckers in the room - us.  That giant sucking noise is the sound of money leaving our pockets.  Memo to Harry and Nancy:  The original idea was to LOWER gas prices.

The democrats' solution to our energy woes is the same solution they offer for every other problem - bleed American families dry while gradually claiming more and more regulatory control over our lives.  To add insult to injury, a number of republicans are acting just like them, apparently in denial of the socialist cancer metastacizing in the body of congress.

Tapping the SPR is a dangerous move.  It compromises our ability to respond to real threats from outside our borders.  Keeping America's war machine well lubricated is vital to our defense, although that's not much help against the enemies inside our borders - the congressional traitors we're paying to destroy us.
